Neil specialises in corporate and international income tax issues, as well as structured transactions. Neil also has extensive experience in relation to GST matters. In addition to his tax expertise Neil has a multi-jurisdictional background in banking, capital markets, structured finance, venture capital and private equity transactions.
Neil is currently advising a number of New Zealand and offshore clients about the tax consequences of available structuring options, and the tax aspects of investment transactions and asset disposals. He advises a number of clients, other law firms and accounting practices on the development of new business structures and products, and regularly assists clients with tax investigations, binding and non-binding ruling applications and tax risk reviews.
Neil has experience as an expert witness in relation to New Zealand tax matters.
Neil is involved in tax policy, and is frequently dealing with Inland Revenue and Treasury officials on proposed law changes.
Neil is also heavily involved in AML/CFT advice, and independent audits, for a range of phase I and phase II clients. He is a NZLS member of the AML/CFT Industry Advisory Group.
Neil is interested in all sport, and after a long triathlon career he now plays golf, enjoys skiing, orienteering, cycling and kayaking, as well as fishing and travel with his family.

Charlotte is a tax and private wealth practitioner with over a decade of legal experience. She has particular expertise in asset structuring, trusts, charities, wills and relationship property.

Establishment and administration of asset-holding vehicles and structures in both domestic and cross-border contexts.
Formation and administration of and advice on all aspects of private family trusts, including drafting of standard and bespoke trust deeds and all ancillary documents (such as deeds of variation, amendment, appointment and removal of trustees and beneficiaries, resettlement and winding up, resolutions and letters of wishes).
Formation and administration of charitable trusts and other charitable vehicles including preparation of trust deeds, rules and policies, incorporation of charitable trust boards and provision of advice to trustees of charitable trusts and other charitable officers on duties, conflicts of interest, governance and administration matters.
Assisting clients with binding ruling applications and voluntary disclosures with Inland Revenue.
Advising on the tax implications of transactions and restructuring at both domestic and cross-border levels, including asset acquisitions and disposals.
Advising on the implications and implementation of FATCA and CRS/AEOI and compliance at the entity and individual level.
Advising on AML/CFT compliance matters.
Advice on and structuring of intergenerational wealth and asset transfers, including preparation of family constitutions.
Complex will-drafting and advice on estate trusts in both domestic and cross-border situations.
